Philips EL6420 Amplifier 1952
After sitting in my storage for almost two years I finally got this thing running. It needed new filter caps and there was a broken dropper resistor in the high voltage circuit
Still have a hum issue to sort out though...

Londonfurs Winter Party 2021

Re uploading as youtube crushed the video quality last time. I took my DSR-250 broadcast camera to the Londonfurs winter party for a bit of fun. It got some attention so I ended up with some nice footage. Sadly the rain prevented us from going outside.

Has the community looked into Depeche Mode? Sounds similar to the TMS singer
Terrible vocals 🤖 distortion voice ...
Why does depeche mode have a sample of like the wind? At the start it says "like like" and it sounds a lot like the lost song. Prob not the first to notice but might as well say it.
Alf was great 👍🏿

Very good
Looking for a place to stay I like to dance and get away....music takes me higher. Favorite song to mix into charlie.
This hilarious. "Lourds on national health " 😅
ODESZA, I love u.
Like the wind sounds so edited in it’s funny
It's not though
This was on before my Thomas the tank engine video. I think watching it was my first taste of anxiety at 6 years old. Could hardly focus on what Thomas got up to after this
Does anyone still have the tracklists of Darius' tapes that Lydia uploaded on discord back in 2020? I know most of those tapes weren't digitized, but I'm still really curious about the tracklists
This mixtape is great, and this is actually the first time I've listened to Depeche Mode. Have to remember them for later.
the fact ghostbusters is there cracks me up lmao
That's just crazy. One of the most recognizable songs, paired with the most unknown one.
I know the main focus here is the unkown song but anyone else notice what an awesome mix tape Darius made as a whole? It has become a regular playlist when working and recorded on tape for listening when at home lol
Yep, this ad terrified me as a 6 to 10 year old kid too. I remember it on my tapes of Home Alone and Harry Potter before the films started. Also, it was unskippable on an animated Mr Bean DVD from what I remember. But as an adult, I find it extremely melodramatic and hilarious to watch, it's far from terrifying. 🤣
Whether this is THE legit infamous mixtape or not its a great recreation otherwise
This mixtape was so ahead of its time.
It's an accurate reflection of its time, the glorious 80s.
Amazing. I am the only owner of one of these machines. Been up in a loft on a trunk many years. Harvey updating Grundig in TK20 videos gives me hope.
IN a trunk. Not on a trunk! But still very dusty!/
25:51 my fight or flight senses kicked in for a sec
I find it very strange that 'Like the Wind' does not really seem to fit into this lineup. The other songs are very synth-heavy with a more positive attitude and often experimental while TMS is melancholic and more conservative in instrumentation. It also seems to go with a more traditional rhythm and pacing. The production quality is not bad but not top notch. It falls a bit flat compared to the other songs in this sampler. Strangely enough, this makes the song stand out more and captures my emotion with its monotone and melancholic singer. A nice time capsule.
it's definitely something "weight off your mind" in the lyrics
mp3 conversion, suffers from the infamous "pre-echo".
Pre echo is usually caused by tape itself. When two layers of tape are touching each other on a reel and magnetise each other.
Lyrics: (Opening solo) Like the wind, you came here runnin’ Change the consequence of leavin’ There’s no space There’s no tomorrow There’s no sense for munication (Chorus) Check it in, check it out. the sun will never shine Better know anyway, in the subways of your mind Like the wind You’re going somewhere Let a smile be your companion There’s no place And there’s no sorrow Here are the young and restless dreamin’ (Chorus) Check it in, check it out. The sun will never shine Better know anyway, in the subways of your mind (Opening solo repeated) (Chorus) Check it in, check it out. The sun will never shine Better know anyway, in the subways of your mind (Fading out from here) Check it in, check it out. In the summer blues Let it in, let in out. It’s the real excuse. ©️2024 BlueDiskette lyrics
This settles the pitch debate for good. All the other tracks are at the right pitch so TMS is unlikely to be the odd one out.
awesome ! and at the correct soeed too !!

Definitely one of my favorites that plays during exploration.
Marvellous! I'm considering getting a Bell and Howell 642, which I guess is a similar manual-threader. Out of genuine interest, do you have any tips on how to avoid manual projectors chewing up, eating (and presumably digesting!) films when they're being projected
The main thing I encountered was dirt and improper threading. To check the threading, the inching dial is your best friend. I'd also suggest going online and downloading a copy of the original manual so you can be sure to get everything right.
@@HazelTheHare thanks!
35:55 like the wind jumpscare
AAAA
"busting makes me feel good" who decided that was a good thing to say in a song (also i know it's the ghostbusters theme)
Prolly intentional
Looks just as hard as the first one! Dig the music though.
35:55 - LIKE THE WIND - (STATUES IN MOTION)
Wasn't confirmed to be Statues in Motion
It's odd that a British music hall comedian would reference American football in the lyrics. In the original version, sung by Stanley Holloway, the guardsmen think she might be footballer Alex James and they ask if Arsenal is going to win. Here, they think it's Doc Blanchard, winner of the 1945 Heisman Trophy, and ask if Army is going to win. In an early version done by Smith, they think it's Red Grange and ask if Army is going to win.
This is interesting what is this I'm curious
